Holy Murder
A man widely regarded as a saint plunges to his death during a charity abseiling event down the iconic tower known as the Stump at Boston Parish Church in the Lincolnshire fens. The webbing of his safety harness has been tampered with. Slowly it emerges that Simeon Knowles was more hated than loved by those who had suffered from the dark side of his nature and several of them were at the church to witness his demise.
Suspicion falls on his doctor until Inspector Paul Amos discovers that she was the only person who knew Knowles was dying anyway, so there was no point in killing him. Amos must decide which of the many people who had been wronged by the victim finally snapped.
